2000, Founder and Creator of BodyBreathe, Kathleen Flier knew that she was killing her skin as a result of frequent visits to a tanning salon. Making a decision to stop the damage and try to repair and heal her skin, she went on an endless search for the right compound to use. After several weeks of trying what would be too oily or not oily enough, she took matters into her own hands to create exactly what she wanted and began this incredible journey into the world of skincare.
The result of this journey was BodyBreathe’s first compound; “ the Skinmelt”. This cream type compound consists of essential and carrier oils beneficial to the skin, promoted aromatherapy for the individual, and had an extremely low risk of allergic reaction. The desire was to create something free of any unnecessary chemicals, fillers or artificial ingredients of any kind. Over the next year human testing was performed. The results were excellent. “We had amazing results, without any allergic reactions or breakouts of any kind.”, says the founder, “And these were people with cystic acne, a history of very bad allergies and of course the normal type skin as well. People were stunned because the compound is basically oils and water; most people equate oil with breakouts and pimples, not realizing that natural oils with water create supreme results allowing the skin to breathe and benefit from what they have to offer.”
It slowly but surely became apparent to Kathleen that there were many people out there, men and women who were also in search of such a pure product. And through more research she realized that she wanted to create a line of products that would “balance” the body and the mind, and thus create even balanced breathing. “When you or your body is stressed, whether you are stuck in traffic, you have a migraine, or your skin is severely chapped, tight and dry, any of these circumstance represent an interruption to your balance. You are not breathing evenly, you feel “out of it” and you are NOT balanced. I am trying to create a line of products that ease these interruptions and bring the individual back to the balance and thus, back to breathing, relaxing, exhaling. Think about it, when a woman is in labor, when someone has heard shocking news, the first thing someone says is, “come on, breathe”.”
From the inception of the “Skinmelt”, Kathleen went on to create lotions that are scented with smells that remind us of something wonderful; a blooming garden, a freshly peeled orange or grapefruit. This completely unisex line also has items such as a bath wash that is made with ingredients such as pure cane juice and super moisturizing African Black Cocoa Butter. There is also the “Meringue”, the Body Butter, and now items specifically geared for men, women and children.
